Sunday evening Bro. Jonah said
something that really stuck with me. Between
hymns he said something to the effect that we sometimes fall short during
church services in giving praise to the Lord.
I know this statement is too true concerning me.
God is glorified by our praise (Psa
22:23, Psa 50:23). And praise and thankfulness
go hand in-in-hand (Psa
79:13, Psa 100:4). The Bible teaches
us, both expressly and through example, that we should thank Him always (Eph
5:20), in everything (1Th
5:18), in public (Psa
35:18) and in private (Dan
6:10).
When I look at it in that
context, I have to admit I fall short in many more areas than just during
church services. He has done so much for
us I don't believe there is any possible way we can ever thank or praise Him
enough. But we should not let that stop
us from trying to.
Psa 145:21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the
LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
Psa
99:3 Let them praise thy great and terrible [meaning solemn awe
and reverence] name; for it is
holy.
Heavenly Father,
Though I fall short in my thanks
and praise to You I know that You deserve it all. Help me to be mindful of the praise that You merit
and to always give it to You.
