Your 401(k)
As
I sit down to write this today, the stock market has opened below
7000. I believe that is less than half what it was 16 months or
so ago and the lowest is has been since 1997. Many of us have
monies in the stock market, either directly or through 401(k)
plans. And a drop like that certainly makes opening our
statements a pretty bleak event.
Sunday morning, during his
sermon, Bro. Jonah made mention of our retirement. He said
something along the lines of our retirement wasn’t going to be in the
mountains fishing, or off to relax and read on the porch. No, our
real retirement is going to be in Heaven.
This brought to my mind our real 401(k).
Our
Lord told us that we shouldn’t lay away treasures on earth but in
Heaven. The treasures we deposit during this earthly life into
that Heavenly account are safe from thieves, decay and the economy!
When we have run the course and finished our race, we are
assured that our real retirement and our real 401(k) will be awaiting
us on the other side. When we arrive on that shore, we are
assured that we will be greeted by Jesus and all those who have gone on
before us. What a joy to know!
Matthew 6:19-20
19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20But
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Lord,
Thank You for Your love and guidance. We trust in You for all things because we know Your Word is true (John 17:17).
